Join our specialised osteoporosis exercise classes, which target bone health for adults at every stage of life. Led by qualified physiotherapists and exercise physiologists, our classes, including MoveStrong, MoveSteady, and AquaMove, work to improve bone density, reduce fracture risk, and strengthen your body. Our classes run for 45 minutes in a group setting, allowing you to exercise in a supportive community of like-minded people. For NDIS participants, Movewell classes may form part of your package. Please speak to us about this for further information.

Strengthen Your Bones and Prevent Fractures

Strong bones are the foundation of an active, independent lifestyle. Strengthening bones with exercise is a fundamental way to stimulate osteoblasts — the cells responsible for bone regeneration and growth. By placing controlled pressure on the bones, the body is signalled to produce new bone mass while improving balance, coordination, flexibility and posture.

Our programs ensure proper form and progression, minimising injury while working to gradually increase in intensity. This approach works to prevent overexertion, allowing vulnerable areas like the spine, hips, knees, and shoulders to adapt safely while you build confidence throughout your program.

Tailored Osteoporosis Exercise Programs

We offer a variety of specialised MoveWell exercise classes at Wolper Jewish Hospital and at Beresford Hall in Rose Bay:

MoveStrong class: Systematic training and bone conditioning utilising circuit format routines and weights, targeting whole body strength and fracture-prone areas with specialised exercise for osteoporosis.

MoveSteady class:  Combines balance training with postural exercises to reduce fall risk and improve flexibility. Designed for participants who wish to enhance proprioception, stability, and body control.

AquaMove classes: Water-based low-impact resistance training that strengthens bone structure and joint movement without the intensity of land-based activities. Ideal for seniors or those transitioning into rehabilitation or who require low impact exercise.

The Benefits of Exercise for Osteoporosis

Studies show¹ that exercises that improve “muscle strength, balance and mobility minimise the risk of falls (and thereby fracture), which is particularly relevant for individuals [at risk of] osteoporotic fracture.”  Here at Wolper, we use evidence-based guidelines to design programs that deliver real, measurable improvements in your daily life.

Our patients have seen results in every level of their lives, including better balance and stability, independent movement, reduced fracture risks, and an overall reduction in joint and bone pain.

Some patients often experience secondary benefits from these programs, such as increased self-esteem, better social connections through group therapy, and overall improvements in body conditioning and cardiovascular health.

What to Expect in Our Classes

Designed and run by our dedicated team of trained professionals, MoveWell patients receive real-time supervision, oversight, and personalised care during every class.

Classes begin with a gentle warm-up to prepare your body, followed by targeted exercises that gradually build in intensity. Our team watches for signs of fatigue and discomfort, providing immediate adjustments when needed.

Each of our MoveWell exercise programs runs multiple times a week. All first-time participants are required to complete a medical clearance form and a one-on-one assessment before starting classes. This allows us to tailor your treatment to your specific circumstances.

Current class participants can also book a casual MoveWell session online to maintain their progression between face-to-face classes.
