Our focus is always on your health, comfort and dignity.
General Rehabilitation
At Wolper patients are cared for by one of our physicians or specialists. At every step of treatment, our expert team will provide a wide range of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and pharmacy medication review. We provide high quality nursing care and our discharge planner will arrange any special services or support needed when returning home.
Rehabilitation for Older People
Wolper’s Rehabilitation for Older People unit provides short-stay restorative care for patients with complex medical needs. The Unit is run by geriatricians who specialise in rehabilitation supported by a full multidisciplinary team which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, exercise physiologists, a speech pathologist, pharmacist, dietitian and discharge planner.
Palliative care
In keeping with Jewish customs, our palliative care service offers a warm, empathetic and reassuring environment that allows patients to maintain their dignity in an atmosphere of traditional values. Wolper’s palliative care staff are specially trained to provide counselling and support for both patients and their family members.
The ward is dedicated to patients requiring palliative care with the focus being on pain relief and symptom control, enhancing quality of life. We also recognise the needs of family and friends, who are encouraged to take part in the care of their loved one. Our consultant doctors work closely with staff to address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
Inpatient Rehabilitation
Inpatient rehabilitation is suitable for people experiencing functional deficit caused by a range of conditions including post orthopaedic surgeries or musculoskeletal conditions.
The goal of Wolper’s inpatient rehabilitation program is to enable patients to return to a safe and independent lifestyle within their home, community and work environment.
Treatment is provided by a specialist multidisciplinary team which includes a rehabilitation specialist, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, exercise physiologists and discharge planner.
Our physiotherapists and occupational therapists will assess and plan a treatment program specific to the patient’s needs to maximise function and to promote independence.
Rehabilitation services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy and hydrotherapy in our heated chlorine-free pool. Other services can be arranged on a needs basis.
Day Rehabilitation
Day Rehabilitation (outpatient) is suitable for patients who do not require inpatient nursing care and who are experiencing functional deficit caused by a range of conditions including post orthopaedic surgeries, musculoskeletal conditions such as fractures, trauma or injuries and some chronic conditions.
The Day Rehabilitation program runs for five weeks and usually requires three hours of participation at each appointment. A tailored program will be developed and will include at least three forms of therapy being physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and an education session with either an occupational therapist or an exercise physiologist.
Patients will be cared for by a highly experienced team that will work collaboratively to achieve defined goals.
The team includes a rehabilitation specialist, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, nursing and wound care staff and other allied health staff as required.
