Urgently seeking a stem cell match to save a life
ADDITONAL TESTING SESSION TO SAVE A JEWISH LIFE IN SYDNEY
Gift of Life Australia is running another testing session to find a stem cell match for Murray Foltyn, a 41-year-old Jewish father of two children aged 8 months and 3 years in Sydney. Murray has been diagnosed with myelofibrosis. He needs an urgent blood stem cell transplant to help save his life.
Saving a life is simple. All you need to do to find out if you are a potential life-saving match is provide a blood sample – just two small vials. If you aren’t a match for Murray you still may be a match for one of the many other people in Australia suffering from blood cancers.
You must be 18 – 35 years to be eligible to be tested.
People with parents or grandparents who are Jewish and come from a Czech, Slovak, UK or Russian background will be prioritised for testing
If you fit the above please register for testing https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PFNB8H3
Testing details:
Place: Wolper Jewish Hospital
8 Trelawney Street, Woollahra
Date: Tuesday, 14 March
Time: 5pm – 8pm
Please do not attend if you are feeling unwell.
Please pre-register on the Strength To Give website to make the process quicker and simpler on the day of blood collection.
Once you have provided your sample, you will be enrolled in the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry (ABMDR). If you are found to be a match, the ABMDR team will contact you and discuss next steps.
