Day Services

MoveWell Exercise Program

Wolper’s MoveWell program promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for all members of the community.

Wolper’s MoveWell Program offers a range of community exercise classes tailored to specific conditions including chronic diseases, falls and balance management, chronic fatigue management, Parkinson’s Disease, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis and musculoskeletal conditions. Classes offered include aqua exercise, general strengthening, balance and falls prevention and Parkinson’s classes.

Classes are of approximately 45 minutes duration and are lead by either accredited exercise physiologists or physiotherapists in small group settings.  Classes are held in two locations:
Wolper Jewish Hospital – 8 Trelawney Street, Woollahra
Beresford Hall – 1 Cranbrook Road, Rose Bay

Wolper Physiotherapy Clinic

Private appointments are available with Wolper’s physiotherapists and exercise physiologists.

Wolper’s physiotherapists are highly trained in treating a wide variety of conditions from injury, post-surgical, illness or concerns related to ageing. Treatment is delivered on a one-on-one basis and is predominantly exercise based with the aim of alleviating pain and restoring function as much as possible.

The Hospital’s accredited exercise physiologists prescribe specific exercises to patients with chronic diseases, illnesses or injuries with the aim of improving or managing their conditions.

Semi private hydrotherapy sessions are also available. These small group classes (up to 8 people with 2 therapists) are 45 minutes in duration and are tailored to participants’ needs. They are led by either an accredited exercise physiologist or physiotherapist.

Day Rehabilitation

Day Rehabilitation is suitable for patients who do not require inpatient nursing care and who are experiencing functional deficit caused by a range of conditions including post orthopaedic surgeries, musculoskeletal conditions such as fractures, trauma or injuries and some chronic conditions.

Inpatient Services

General Rehabilitation

At Wolper patients are cared for by one of our physicians or specialists. At every step of treatment, our expert team will provide a wide range of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and pharmacy medication review. We provide high quality nursing care and our discharge planner will arrange any special services or support needed when returning home.

Rehabilitation for Older People

Wolper’s Rehabilitation for Older People unit provides short-stay restorative care for patients with complex medical needs. The Unit is run by geriatricians who specialise in rehabilitation supported by a full multidisciplinary team which includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, exercise physiologists, a speech pathologist, pharmacist, dietitian, social worker and discharge planner.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body

Wolper’s healthy ageing program

Developed by Wolper Jewish Hospital and the University of Sydney, this 12-week program is aimed at people aged 65 and over who want to maintain their health and wellbeing.

What’s involved?

  • Individualised exercise, facilitated brain training and a combination of yoga, mindfulness, dietary and occupational therapy education.
    These 3 hour sessions will take place at Wolper Jewish Hospital, once a week on Wednesdays (11:30am – 2:30pm).
  • Home-based tasks to be completed throughout the week. Attendees will receive a workbook to guide them through. These tasks will be monitored and feedback will be provided to ensure progress.
